A standard match-3 mechanic was created in flash, while not the most advanced it had expected features such as constant board analysis to ensure a match was possible and offer the player hints... Something considered a standard feature now.

The choice was made to not have the enemy manipulate the board in order to provide more of a puzzle feel than a competitive one. I wanted the player to be able to setup the board as they liked and attempt to defeat a scripted strategy that each enemy employed against them.

Description

Given the popularity of the genre I wanted to try my hand at a Match-3 game. Elements of Arkandia tried to blend the match-3 mechanic with a combat system and a larger meta game or trying to run a fantasy shop.
